Meet Curious Jane

Continuing our meet Curious Minds series we introduce you to Jane Evans-Woodason one of our great team of programme managers at our Merseyside base. Jane's work has a large focus on our work in Cheshire and from her answers loves a good book club and a cup of Red Bush tea:

1. What or who inspires you?

Other than my kids...

Camila Batmanghelidjh (founder of Kids Company) - for providing security and support for extremely vulnerable young people.

Shami Chakrabarti - Director of Liberty - for intelligently and passionately fighting for everyone's human rights.

2. What is ‘curious’ about your mind?

I like to learn new skills.  Last year it was the ukulele, this year it's drawing.  I love novels and am (rather excessively) in 3 reading groups.

3. Tell us a tale about yourself

One summer, I was in a swimming pool on holiday with my brother and sister, idly wondering what would happen if I took my water wings off my arms and put them on my feet....  The experiment dramatically concluded with a daring rescue by my brother (according to him) as my upper body struggled not to sink beneath my absurdly buoyant feet.
Don't try this at home.

4. If you could be a famous artist/performer from present, past or future who would you be and why?

Ute Lemper - Garbo-esque singer, writer and performer.  As well as her own stuff, she beautifully interprets the words and music of Weill & Brecht, Kander & Ebb and more contemporary artists such as Nick Cave and Elvis Costello.   (Not everyone's cup of tea...)

5. Last book you read?

Brooklyn by Colm Toibin

6. Who do you trust?

Very few politicians

7. Who do you not trust?

Very many politicians

8. Desert Island – three luxuries - what are they?

Ukulele, photo album and writing set

9. If you didn’t work for Curious Minds where and what would you be doing?

If only I had the talent, I'd be singing and dancing in the West End.  More realistically... I always wanted to be a make-up and hair artist for theatre (or film and TV).

10. What do you like about working for Curious Minds?

I like the banter and the laughs... and most importantly I like that I'm working for an organisation that has pioneered teaching and learning for creativity and supported schools to  equip young people with the skills and confidence to lead fulfilling lives...
.. Thank goodness for the dedication of our creative agents and practitioners!
