The Impact of the Social Media Ban on Cultural Education

We're joined by Georgia Turner and Luisa Fassi, who will present their findings on the impact of social media on young people, drawing on studies they have compiled and undertaken.

Georgia Turner has recently completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge studying the psychology of social media and smartphone use, and in particular how social rewards such as 'Likes' invigorate behaviour and impact wellbeing. Her background is in psychology and neuroscience, and as a postdoctoral researcher she is interested in continuing to apply insights from neuroscience to understand technology use, as well as its potential implications for technology regulation.

Luisa Fassi is a Research Associate at Radboud University and the University of Cambridge. Her research leverages quantitative and qualitative methods to study the relationship between social media use and adolescents' mental health, with a specific focus on adolescents with mental health conditions.

We'll also hear from Hayley Lindley-Thornhill, Head of Young People & Community at Everyman Playhouse, who will be joined by young people keen to share their own insight into the effects of the ban on children and young people, and the intersection between arts and cultural organisations.

Representing the teaching profession, we're joined by Miss M Hartley, Teacher of Performing Arts and Artsmark & Partnerships Lead at Byrchall High School.
