Aims and description
This module helps you understand how school trips can connect directly to what you are teaching in the classroom. It focuses on spotting links between trips and different curriculum areas, so that visits are not seen as ‘add-ons’ but as a key part of learning.
You will explore how arts and cultural experiences such as visits to museums, galleries, or performances can support a wide range of subjects, including English, history, science, and maths. The module will show how one well-planned trip can contribute to learning across several areas, making teaching more joined-up and meaningful.
It will also help you think about how to plan with these links in mind, so that students can clearly connect what they experience on the trip with what they are learning back at school.
We aim to:
-
Make clear curriculum connections
To help teachers identify and understand how school trips link directly to curriculum learning across different subjects. -
Maximise cross-curricular learning
To support teachers in using one trip to contribute to multiple subject areas, creating more joined-up and meaningful learning experiences. -
Plan for purposeful learning
To develop teachers’ ability to plan trips that clearly connect to classroom learning, helping students make links between the experience and their ongoing work.
